Junction
is located in the Texas Hill County in the central part of the state. The town gets its' name from its' location where the North and South Llano Rivers converge. It's the county seat and has a population of approximately 2,600. Junction's nickname is "Land of Living Waters" because there is more flowing water in and around the city than in any other county in Texas. Junction is home to several parks, but the most well-known is the 507-acre South Llano River State Park. Due to this, and to the town's location along busy Interstate 10, Junction offers abundant hotels, eateries, golf and tennis courts, eight swimming pools and many businesses that cater to the tourists. South Llano River State Park is about five miles south of Junction. Things to do at the park include camping, canoeing, kayaking and tubing down the river, fishing, swimming, mountain biking, birdwatching and picnicking. There are 18 miles of hiking and biking trails and 58 campsites, including five hike-in, primitive campsites, at South Llano State Park. Many places around the North and South Llano Rivers are excellent for fishing. Species include largemouth bass, perch, channel catfish, yellow catfish and Guadalupe bass. You'll find several places in the town of Junction to rent kayaks, canoes and tubes. Outfitters will drop you off at your desired starting point on the river and pick you up after your float trip is over. Other attractions in Junction include the Kimble County Historical Museum, which contains relics from the early pioneer days and military artifacts.
