Daingerfield
is a small town, and also the name of a state park, located in Morris County in the northeast portion of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population of the town was 2,560. Daingerfield State Park covers 507 acres and includes an 80-acre lake. More than five million dollars was recently spent to upgrade and renovate the park. Tours of the park can be arranged upon special request. Activities available at Daingerfield State Park include boating, fishing, hiking, camping, picnicking, and swimming (no lifeguards are on duty in the park.) Equipment rentals are available at Daingerfield State Park for paddle boats, canoes, kayaks (single and tandem,) hydro-boats and flat bottom boats. The park also offers a number of ranger-led educational programs. During the second weekend of October, the town of Daingerfield hosts their annual Fall Fest. Other special events include Wildflower Trails the third weekend in April, The Jefferson Historical Pilgrimage and Mardi Gras Jefferson in February. Attractions nearby include the Morris County Museum, Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Atlanta State Park, Caddo Lake State Park and the Starr Family Home State Historic Site.

The Northeast Region of Texas has a humid, subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild to cool winters. Warm, dry winds from the north and west cause summer temperatures to soar over 100 degrees F. This is one of the hottest regions of the U.S. during the summer. Winters are generally mild with clear, sunny skies. Sometimes, strong cold fronts in winter known as "Blue Northers" will pass through the region, causing nighttime lows to drop below 25 degrees F. It generally snows 1 or 2 days per year, with an average accumulation of 1.8 inches. However, daytime highs around 70 are not uncommon in winter. Spring weather is warm but can be volatile. Severe thunderstorms are common, along with lightening, heavy rain, hail and possible tornadoes. Northeast Texas is located in the heart of Tornado Alley.
