Bellville
is a small city located in Austin County in southeastern Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,097 residents. The Bellville Chamber of Commerce's motto is; "Where small town living is a way of life. Cowboys are still cowboys, and children can still be children." That says a lot about this town that was founded in 1846 and platted around a center courthouse and town square. The first structures in the town were the wooden courthouse, a few churches and log cabins. Most of the residents were farmers. When the railroad arrived in 1880, the town began to grow rapidly, and the population boomed from 300 to over 1,000 residents. Cotton became an important crop, along with other agricultural products that were transported by railroad to the cities of Houston and Galveston. Many large homes were built in Bellville around that time. Today, the Courthouse Square remains the center of town, just as it was back in 1846. The city of Bellville has several historical structures, including the Austin County Jail, which stands about a half-block off the town square. There's also 170 cemetery locations in Bellville, some on private property, and the original school sites are all marked by plaques. Special events in Bellville include First Saturday Market Day, when vendors set up their arts, crafts, antiques, collectibles, etc. around the historic courthouse square. Live entertainment and great food are also provided at Market Day.

East-central Texas, where the upper Gulf Coast Region meets the Southern Lakes Region, the climate is mostly humid subtropical. Summers are hot and humid, and inters are mild and relatively dry. Snowfall is rare, but ice storms occur about once every two years or so. On average, east-central Texas receives 33 inches of rain per year, mostly in the spring and fall. Severe thunderstorms are also possible in the springtime. Tornadoes are a threat, especially in the springtime. Bright sunshine prevails most of the time. Summer highs exceed 100 degrees F. on an average of 18 days per year and exceed 90 degrees F. on 116 days per year.
