Round-Top
is a town in Fayette County in southeast Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 80 residents. Although small in size, Round Top is home to three very popular tourist attractions; The Round Top Antiques Fair, Shakespeare at Winedale and International Festival, a renowned music institute for young musicians. Round Top is also home to the oldest building in Fayette County; Moore's Fort. The Round Top Antiques Fair has been held here every spring and fall for over forty years. It features Americana, European and Country furniture, accessories and other unique items from all over the world. Many "tagalong" antique shows have appeared in nearby communities, so that today, the Antiques Week stretches from North of Round Top, Texas, Southward through Warrenton, Texas. The Round Top International Festival is a musical institute established in 1971 by pianist James Dick. It provides musical education programs throughout summer and hosts several concerts every year. Shakespeare at Winedale was created in 1970 and is affiliated with the University of Texas Austin. The performance space in Round Top, called Winedale, is actually a barn donated to the University. The centerpiece of the program is the summer performances, when students from the University of Texas spend 11 weeks preparing for 24 performances of three Shakespeare plays. The plays usually take place the last weeks of July and first weeks of August.

Southeast Central Texas has a subtropical humid climate with hot summers and mild winters. This region is one of the hottest in the state of Texas. From June through September, the temperature is generally always above 90 degrees F., and it's not uncommon for it to soar over 100 degrees. High humidity makes it even more uncomfortable. Winters, on the other hand, are mild and pleasant. Thunderstorms are possible in spring and sometimes bring tornadoes to the area. Snowfall is very rare, although it does occur once every couple of years or so. The average high in January is 63 degrees F. Average annual rainfall in this area is 50 inches. Flash flooding sometimes occurs when storms dump large amounts of rain in a short period of time.
