Horseshoe-Bay
is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country of central Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,418 residents. Horseshoe Bay is mostly known for being home to an exclusive golf resort on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson (Lake LBJ.) Not just for adults, however, Horseshoe Bay has a vast array of activities for the whole family. Golf Magazine has named the course at Horseshoe Bay as one of "America's Best Golf Resorts." Three championship courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones and another member's only Jack Nicklaus signature links. The lakeside setting offers some of the most beautiful scenery of any golf course in the state. Courses are also available for corporate outings and charitable events. LBJ Lake offers swimming, boating, water-skiing, kayaking, or you can rent a pontoon boat or take a try at paddle boarding. All types of watercraft are available to rent from luxury boats to personal kayaks. There's a Marina Boardwalk with shops with women's and men's apparel, swimwear, gifts and sundries. A kids' camp offers a variety of arts and crafts and other activities for children. Other things to do at Horseshoe Bay include fine dining, a variety of spa treatments, a full-service fitness center, and live entertainment. Accommodations are available in everything from five-star hotels, apartments and condominiums with one, two or three bedrooms and lakeside views. LBJ Lake is a reservoir on the Colorado River, and is about 45 miles northwest of Austin. Other towns around the lake include Granite Shoals, Kingsland, Highland Haven, Sunrise Beach and Marble Falls.

Horseshoe Bay Weather & Climate

Central Texas basically has two seasons - summers that may last from April through October, and winters that start in November and usually lasts until March. When summer ends, it's too dry for autumn foliage, except in East Texas.
Precipitation is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year, although most occurs in May and September in the form of thunderstorms. Large amounts of rain falling within short periods of time cause flash floods. Hail is reported around the Central Texas area an average of 31 days per year and tornadoes are reported on an average of 12 days per year. Average yearly rainfall is near 32 inches. Average sunshine varies from about 50% in the winter to near 75% in the summer. Although tornadoes are rare, they are most often associated with dissipating tropical storms.
