Kingsland
is a community located on the shores of Lake Lyndon B Johnson in central Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,030. Kingsland is situated at the point where the "arms" of the Colorado and Llano Rivers join to form Lake LBJ. It's arguably one of the most naturally beautiful areas in Texas, with jagged rock outcroppings formed millions of years ago. Kingsland is popular with tourists due to Lake LBJ and many other attractions in the area. Recreational activities include fishing, boating, water-skiing, wake boarding, swimming, hiking, camping, picnicking and golf. The Llano River is perfect for tubing due to its' clear, shallow waters. Attractions in Kingsland include the Victorian Antlers Hotels, built in 1901, and The Slab. The latter is a spot where the Llano River crosses under and around granite slabs and boulders. People love to come to the slab to bask in the warm sun and swim or wade in the clear waters that run over the granite. Kingsland is also home to several annual special events. Aqua Boom has one of the best fireworks displays in the state, and also includes a Wild West Show, fish fry, golf tournament, arts and crafts fair, street dance, parades, BBQ/chili/steak cook-off and more. Oktoberfest is usually held the second weekend in October and Kingsland Christmas offers arts & crafts vendors, photos with Santa, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and smores, food vendors and a cookie decorating contest.

Central Texas basically has two seasons - summers that may last from April through October, and winters that start in November and usually lasts until March. When summer ends, it's too dry for autumn foliage, except in East Texas.
Precipitation is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year, although most occurs in May and September in the form of thunderstorms. Large amounts of rain falling within short periods of time cause flash floods. Hail is reported around the Central Texas area an average of 31 days per year and tornadoes are reported on an average of 12 days per year. Average yearly rainfall is near 32 inches. Average sunshine varies from about 50% in the winter to near 75% in the summer. Although tornadoes are rare, they are most often associated with dissipating tropical storms.
