Valley-View
is a small town located in Cooke County in northern Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 757 residents. The town of Valley View was settled in 1870 and named for the beautiful Spring Creek Valley that surrounds the community. Valley View is just an hour from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but seems much further with its' peaceful, slow pace of life. Valley View's major attraction is nearby Ray Roberts Lake. This 29,350-acre reservoir provides abundant recreational activities; camping, boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Please note that the beach at Ray Roberts Lake has no lifeguards on duty. A resort is located on a high ridge overlooking the lake that offers fine accommodations with stunning views of the lake. It's very popular for weddings, romantic getaways and reunions. Also near Valley View is the Ray Roberts Lake/Lake Lewisville Greenbelt Corridor, which is a 20-mile multiuse trail system. This trail meanders through the heavily wooded banks of the Elm Fork Branch of the Trinity River. Horseback riders, hikers, bikers, canoeists, birdwatchers, and anglers can access the trail at one of three trailheads, located at FM 455, FM 428 and Highway 380.

Northeastern Texas , near the Oklahoma border, the climate is humid subtropical with hot summers and mild winters. The annual average precipitation is 29 inches, with an annual average snowfall of 6 inches. Most of the time, however, this region enjoys sunny weather that is typical of most of the state of Texas. Tornadoes are possible, but it's too far from the Gulf of Mexico for hurricanes to be a significant threat. In winter, periods of extreme cold are rare. Snowfall remaining on the ground more than a few days is an uncommon occurrence in Texas. Freezing rain is a distinct hazard in northeast Texas, with nearly the same frequency as snow events.
